Plumber Nudgee Guide

It is not an easy job when you decide to hire a plumber. There is a huge shortage of skilled professionals who can determine the plumbing problem in your home and then fix it properly. There are some plumbers who have taken advantage of people who are unaware of the extent of their plumbing problem. If you have an urgent plumbing problem, you shouldn’t be in a rush to hire the first plumber you contact. We have what we think are some great tips to consider before you hire a plumber.

Plumber Nudgee Tip No 1.

Hire a plumber with experience with your problem.

Contact friends and relatives about a plumber. If you can get a personal reference for a plumber from a friend is good. Ask friends and family who have already worked with plumbers and then find out how much they charged. Apart from personal references, you can also check with the BBB or the Better Business Bureau. You will find on their website a great list of well regarded plumbers that are well regarded for their work. If there are any complaints about the plumber, they will be listed at the site. Having a BBB listing is not essential but it’s just a way to make sure that you have a reliable plumber. After you have sorted out a few you like, call them to have a talk. Find out how long they have been in business and what type of work they do? If you like, you can ask for client references and call them to verify their work.

Plumber Nudgee Tip No 2.

Does your plumber have insurance?

Every plumber should be covered by insurance. You will need to ask about their Public Liability Insurance and Workers Compensation and look into their current status. Never, ever hire a plumber who isn’t currently covered by these insurance policies.

Plumber Nudgee Tip No 3.

Look for a licensed plumber only.

You might have inquired around and found several contractors who have visited your home to evaluate the problem. After they’ve visited your home, most plumbers will get back to you with a quote or they might have left you a visiting card with their details on it. When they leave a quote or business card with you, you should see their license and insurance details there. Do not accept any quotes which do not have a complete address, license number and registration details on it. Ideally, it should also have a contact number and company details about the company that the plumber works at. Often the quote or business card will relate to the company, but not the individual that is there to carry out the work. To secure yourself, you can verify or check the details of the registration number online at websites like the State Department of Labor and Industries. You can also contact the State Contractors Licensing Board by mobile phone and confirm the number for your security and safety.

Does the plumbing service respond quickly?

Ask the plumber that you have selected for at least three references from clients that are at least three years old. The main reason for getting refernces that are this old is to check and see if the plumber has been working in this area for a long time. Doing this will ensure that you are not hiring a fly by night operator who will cheat you. Furthermore, these three-year-old clients may have repeat leakages and problems and when you contact them you can inquire about how they dealt with these problems. After you have done this checking, check with the plumber in regard to his warranty and service periods. Ideally, along with the manufacturers warranty for the goods that he has used, the plumber should be able to set a tentative time period for his limited warranty for the work done. Do Not expect a full guarantee because that is not really possible for domestic kitchen appliances and products which can break down at any time but a restricted warranty is possible.

Plumber Nudgee Tip No 5.

Does your plumbing service provide Free Estimate or do they charge a Service Fee?
Just about all local plumbers provide a free estimation or quote for the job they are going to be doing in your home. If they are charging for the home visit and quote, they should let you know beforehand. Ideally, inquire and find out how much a plumber will charge you or if he will charge you at all.

Plumber Nudgee Tip No 6

Does your Plumbing Service provide a fair price?
It is never an easy thing to verify the cost of a certain service. You are quite qithin your rights however to question the cost of a quote and get many quote to compare. The lowest bidder is not the best but getting multiple quotes can help you to compare prices for the same procedure or job. If you would like to compare more quotes, then you can simply search for local plumbers online to get free quotes online. But frankly, you should know how much the job is going to cost you. For example, a busted heater is going to be expensive; you already know that while a blown gasket is going to be mild to moderately expensive. Use your common sense to understand the quote and then bargain it down. Most contractors will provide you a discount for the labor charges that they have added to the quote.
